Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a Senior Electrician to perform advanced journeyman‑level installation, maintenance, and service of electrical systems across campus facilities. The role includes supervising staff and assisting the supervisor in daily operations.

Responsibilities include maintaining the work order system, coordinating with faculty, ordering materials, and ensuring code compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and electrical journeyman’s license.
• Seven (7) years of experience as a licensed electrical journeyman.
• Valid Texas class “C” driver’s license or state equivalent to operate a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the automated work order system.
• Issuing work orders to the electrical personnel and ensuring work has been performed.
• Communicate with faculty and staff to schedule work and coordinate services.
• Order materials needed to complete work orders.
• Install and repair underground electrical conduit and wire for pole lighting and services.
• Install new electrical services to buildings and extend old services, including removal of old feeders and trenching for new feeders.
• Read blueprints, track cost, write change orders, and coordinate with Architects and Engineers.
• Assist the electrical supervisor in day‑to‑day operations and train/mentors shop personnel.
• Respond to on‑call electrical emergencies before/during/after normal hours.
