Job summary

Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus is seeking a Lead Electrician to provide advanced electrical maintenance, repair, and installation for hospital facilities, leading the electrical service team under senior management. The role focuses on design, life-cycle planning, and ensuring safe operations for patients and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a Master Electrician license or Journeyman certification, 7+ years in the field, and hospital maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• 7 years of relevant electrical experience required.
• Associate’s Degree in Construction, Electrical, or Electronics or High School Diploma/GED with Master Electrician licensure required.
• Master Electrician License or Journeyman license or equivalent certification required within 1 year of hire.
• Electrical or Electronic Certification through the US Dept. of Labor Bureau required.
• Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm EDT (with an on‑call rotation).
• Contribute to facility electrical systems management, including PM development, budgeting, system assessments, and life cycle planning.
• Maintain hospital computerized maintenance management system through work orders and preventative maintenance orders.

The Lead Electrician provides advanced electrical maintenance, repair, and installation services for hospital facilities at the team leader level, under the direction of engineering senior management. This position assesses, prioritizes, assigns, troubleshoots, and repairs facility electrical components requiring design, life-cycle planning, repair, replacement, or new installation. The Lead Electrician performs duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and policies. The Lead Electrician leads the facility electrical service team in the installation and operation of electrical products, to provide a comfortable and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• _ Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm EDT (with an on‑call rotation)_

• Contribute to facility electrical systems management, including PM development, budgeting, system assessments, and life cycle planning.
• Contribute to maintaining emergency response procedures for failed electrical, fire alarm, and automatic fire suppression equipment.
• Design, construct, install and remove various facility electrical equipment, systems, and electrical components.
• Diagnose malfunctions in the facility’s electrical equipment, systems, or electrical components and take appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of replacement electrical equipment and systems.
• Maintain hospital computerized maintenance management system through the appropriate assignment of work orders, development, and assignment of preventative maintenance orders, completion of work orders, and the recording equipment history.
• Participate in people management activities for unit team members, such as performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on all facility electrical equipment, systems, and components in accordance with prescribed procedures.
• Provide quality control for new installations or replacements of facility electrical equipment, systems, and electrical components performed by others.
• Provide training on electrical systems and electrical safety to both electrical and other facilities maintenance and operations team members.
• Services range through the following specialized areas: main electric service feeds, switches, transformers, breakers, distribution panels, generators, automatic transfer switches, motors, variable frequency drives, uninterruptable power supplies, lighting, battery lights, outlets, various alarm systems, building fire alarm system, building automatic fire suppression systems, and pneumatic tube system.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s Degree in Construction, Electrical, or Electronics field of study OR High School Diploma/GED& Master Electrician licensure required
• 7 years of relevant electrical experience required
• 3 years of hospital maintenance/construction preferred
• Master Electrician License or Journeyman license or equivalent certification required within 1 year of hire
• Electrical or Electronic Certification through the US Dept. of Labor Bureau required
• Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt preferred
