Job summary

American Energy Group (AEG) is seeking an experienced Electrician with 5–10+ years of field experience to join a rapidly growing team in Downers Grove, IL. The candidate will independently manage projects, supervise crews, coordinate with customers, and ensure work is performed safely and to code.

This is not an entry-level role. We value ownership, problem solving, strong communication, and pride in quality workmanship. Travel to multiple states is expected.

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years electrical experience required.
  • Illinois Journeyman or Master Electrician preferred.
  • Strong NEC knowledge.
  • Experience running commercial projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience supervising crews.
  • Read blueprints and electrical drawings.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders and lifts.
  • EV charging, generators, lighting controls, or solar is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial and residential electrical projects
  • Supervise and mentor apprentice electricians
  • Read and interpret electrical plans, blueprints, and specifications
  • Plan daily work and coordinate jobsite activities
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems
  • Service upgrades, panel replacements, and equipment installations
  • Install EV charging systems (Level 2 and DC fast chargers)
  • Install LED lighting systems and lighting controls
  • Ensure all work follows NEC, local codes, and safety regulations
  • Coordinate inspections with inspectors when needed
  • Maintain accurate job documentation
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and project managers
  • Identify field issues and provide practical solutions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work van and job site.
