Job summary

Hazen & Sawyer is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer for our Richmond, VA office. You will provide electrical engineering and design for water and wastewater facility projects, serving as lead electrical engineer when required.

The role supports local, regional, and occasional firm-wide projects, with opportunities for growth and mentoring of junior staff in a collaborative, water-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–14 years of relevant heavy industrial electrical design experience.
• Licensed as a registered professional engineer in at least one U.S. state.
• Ability to be licensed in additional states at the firm's request.
• Experience with SKM or ETAP power system software.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit BIM software.
• Experience in Microsoft Office products.
• Strong communication skills for interactions with clients, contractors, and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Power systems design for water and wastewater facilities, including medium and low voltage distribution, generators, motor controls, and lighting.
• Prepare project specifications and edit master specifications as needed.
• Lead electrical engineer on multiple projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget.
• Perform site visits from concept through construction.
• Design work in AutoCAD and/or Revit as required.
• Conduct power system studies in SKM and/or ETAP as required.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs; manage change orders and test electrical equipment.
