Job summary

Quantum Computing Inc. Cranbury, NJ seeks a seasoned Principal Engineer, Electrical Engineering, to lead development of photodetector-based modules for quantum sensing, optical communications, and imaging.

You will design, test, and bring up advanced optoelectronic components and PICs, collaborating across engineers to meet product objectives. The role emphasizes low-noise analog/mixed-signal circuits, FPGA/embedded systems, and full NPI lifecycle ownership.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in EE or related field with 15–20+ years of experience as a principal engineer.
  • Proven ability to design, build, test, and troubleshoot complex electronic products.
  • Extensive experience in low-noise, high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuitry for weak-signal detection.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout.
  • Practical FPGA and embedded-systems experience.
  • Strong system-design skills including requirements, architecture, budgets, and component selection.
  • Extensive lab experience with high-speed/low-noise test equipment.
  • Knowledge of SPAD circuit operation and excess bias control.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of photodetector-based modules from concept to production release.
  • Define product requirements, architectures, interfaces, and verification methods.
  • Design low-noise, high-voltage supplies with calibration and temperature compensation.
  • Layout high-speed mixed-signal PCBs with signal and power integrity considerations.
  • Develop FPGA logic and embedded firmware for timing, counting, control, and data acquisition.
  • Create evaluation boards, prototypes, and test fixtures to characterize detector performance.
  • Perform lab bring-up, debugging, and verification of boards and subsystems.
  • Collaborate across detector, optical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams.
