Job summary

Gray AES is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer-MEP to join our team across our Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX and Lexington, KY offices. You will lead electrical design, coordinate with disciplines, and drive quality in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

The role requires a PE license, 7–10 years of experience in electrical design, and strong proficiency with NEC/NFPA/IBC codes, BIM workflows, and design tools. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering License is required.
• 7–10 years of professional experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong background in Gray’s core markets.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead electrical engineer on assigned projects, overseeing design scope, technical quality, and code compliance.
• Develop and validate electrical system designs, including lighting, power, grounding, and low-voltage systems tailored to project and client needs.
• Perform and review design calculations, energy code compliance assessments, and system performance modeling
• Lead the coordination of electrical design with architectural, structural, mechanical, and technology disciplines
• Produce and oversee drawings, specifications, and BIM models, ensuring accuracy and integration across project phases.
• Manage project schedules and budgets related to electrical scope, supporting project managers in planning and execution.
• Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings, ensuring design intent and quality standards are upheld.
• Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and site visits, representing the electrical discipline and providing technical leadership.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of internal design standards and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and team collaboration.
• Other duties as assigned.
