Job description

Job description

Orano, we're not just powering the future-we're engineering its foundation. As part of our groundbreaking uranium enrichment IKE Program, we're redefining what a sustainable nuclear fuel production looks like for the next generation.

We're seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the charge in designing and integrating electrical systems to drive complex projects from concept to reality

You'll lead the Electrical engineering scope on a major nuclear project, serving as both a technical expert and a team leader. From design to execution, your work will ensure that what we build is resilient, code-compliant, and built to last - while coordinating closely with a range of disciplines to deliver fully integrated solutions.

You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with elite engineers and regulatory experts, moving fast, solving hard problems, and making decisions that have real-world consequences. If you're ready to lead at the edge of what's possible in nuclear technology, we want to talk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical engineering efforts from concept design through installation, testing, and commissioning for high-integrity nuclear infrastructure.
  • Design and review electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls, grounding and lighting.
  • Oversee electrical engineering work performed by the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, ensuring alignment with project specifications, safety, and quality standards.
  • Ensure engineering work meets all applicable codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and DOE/NRC requirements.
  • Develop and approve technical documentation - single-line diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, load calculations, and specifications.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to electrical engineering staff and junior engineers.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Evaluate and approve vendor designs and submittals, ensuring technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Support safety and reliability assessments, fault current analyses, and testing protocols.
  • Represent Orano in technical reviews, audits, and inspections with regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in project planning, cost estimating, scheduling, and risk mitigation strategies.

Our Full-Time Benefits
  • Competitive compensation
  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance - with generous employer contributions
  • 401(k) with employer matching and contribution amounts
  • Life insurance and Short- and Long-Term Disability insurance provided by the company
  • Generous Paid Time Off and holiday schedules
  • Numerous Training and Development opportunities
  • and more...

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution (Master's preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.
  • Experience in nuclear, DOE, or highly regulated industrial sectors strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with DOE Orders, NRC requirements, and nuclear quality assurance programs (e.g., NQA-1).

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • DOE Q Clearance or ability to obtain one preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in electrical design software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, AutoCAD Electrical, and Revit.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NRC Reg Guides).
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities across concurrent engineering tasks and projects.
