Job summary

HNM Systems is seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Design Supervisor to lead a team of designers in the Tampa, Florida market. The role involves technical leadership for overhead and underground distribution projects and ensuring compliance with utility standards.

The successful candidate will mentor staff, manage design workloads, review design packages, and collaborate with engineering, permitting, and construction teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure initiatives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of electrical distribution design experience.
• 3+ years of leadership, supervisory, lead designer, or project coordination experience.
• Strong knowledge of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
• Advanced understanding of utility design standards, construction practices, and electrical distribution engineering principles.
• Strong AutoCAD experience.
• Experience reviewing and approving construction-ready design packages.
• Knowledge of utility safety regulations, standards, and industry codes.
• Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to independently complete and oversee large, complex design projects.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Experience implementing and maintaining QA/QC processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Electrical Designers.
• Manage design workloads, schedules, and production deliverables across multiple projects.
• Provide technical leadership for overhead and underground electrical distribution designs.
• Review and approve design packages, construction drawings, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with utility standards, customer requirements, applicable regulations, and industry codes.
• Support project planning, resource allocation, and schedule management.
• Coordinate with utility stakeholders, engineering teams, permitting agencies, municipalities, and construction personnel.
• Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts and maintain design quality standards.
• Assist with onboarding and development of junior design staff.
• Resolve complex technical design challenges and provide guidance to project teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and design process optimization.
• Monitor project milestones and ensure successful project execution.
• All other duties as assigned.
