Job summary

Pkaza Data Center Recruiting is seeking a Commissioning Lead Electrical – SME for remote roles with travel. Lead the commissioning of critical power and electrical systems in data centers, guiding a team of engineers and PMs through start-up, testing, and documentation.

The role requires 5–10+ years in electrical/mechanical commissioning, experience with data centers, and strong communication. Travel up to 50% and proximity to major airport are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s / Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
• 5–10+ years of experience in Electrical/Mechanical commissioning.
• Experience with data center/mission-critical projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction.
• Experience managing commissioning teams and developing project plans.
• Experience with IEEE / ASHRAE procedures a plus.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and MS Project.
• Open to 50% travel and able to live within 60–90 minutes of a major airport.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple data center commissioning projects with a full team of engineers and project managers.
• Serve as a technical SME, ensuring adherence to commissioning standards and QC processes.
• Develop SOPs and MOPs, compile comprehensive commissioning documentation.
• Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and owners' agents.
• Prepare test procedures, logs, and detailed commissioning reports.
• Troubleshoot field issues and support equipment field testing and operation.

Commissioning Lead Electrical – SME – Remote / Traveler

Lead the overall electrical commissioning process, follow standards set by the organization and oversight of multiple commissioning projects for large data center projects. This candidate will act as a Commissioning Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ensure that commissioning experts follow commissioning standards, adhere to a thorough quality management / QC process and procedures that validate and document client’s systems. This candidate will also handle any technical commissioning issues for their data center clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple Commissioning Projects consists of a full team of commissioning engineers and commissioning project managers on a wide range of Data Center Commissioning projects
• Will not have manage staff at the onset ; candidate will be managing the technical aspect of projects and act as a technical resource commissioning teams
• Will grow into a technical management role with people management in 6-18 month timeframe
• Ensure Commissioning standards are being followed for: Equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures; Development of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); Comprehensive Commissioning documentation
• Ensure that the overall Commissioning process is being followed with the highest of standards:
• Commissioning test procedures and reports
• Commissioning logs, equipment checklist, and other tools to track commissioning projects
• Comprehensive reports which include:
• recommendations for optimizing building operations
• functional checklists
• list of deficiencies
• equipment operation
• maintenance manuals
• Have the team follow Commissioning Standards:
• Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning
• Integrated system testing; Load Bank Testing; Compilation of all testing procedure results
• Functional tests for various building MEP systems, such as: fire alarm and control systems, HVAC, Chillers, CRAC units, normal and standby electrical distribution systems, UPS, standby generators, and emergency lighting, etc.
• System Assembly;
• Commission plan preparation
• Follow company QC process and procedures
• Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors and owners agents as needed;
• Execute project assignments; Interface with project contractors, vendors, and testing technicians; Interact with all facets of the company: engineering, design, etc.
• Verification of commissioning results of test reports
• Assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as needed; Field experience in the operation and application of Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, Data loggers, and related system testing equipment

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 + years experience in the Electrical / Mechanical Commissioning Field
• Bachelor’s / Associates Degree as an Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer a plus
• A/E experience working in complex facilities or mission critical projects
• Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience a must
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (this role requires heavy amount of writing, documentation, and client interaction)
• Experience with Level 1-5 commissioning
• Experience managing commissioning teams and developing plans for large scale commissioning projects
• Experience with IEEE / ASHRAE procedures and protocols a plus
• Possess basic knowledge of systems design for various projects
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project
• Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy Nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army – Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
• Open to 50% Travel (not long periods of travel / just many smaller ones to check on multiple projects)
• Must live 60-90 minutes from a major airport
