Job summary

Environmental Resources Management, Inc. seeks a Principal Consultant, Electric Transmission Routing and Siting, to lead routing studies, supervise staff, and prepare expert reports for new-build transmission projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes regions.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of consulting or industry experience, with a focus on routing, siting and permitting, and exceptional written and oral communication skills; travel up to 15% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Land Use Planning, Cultural Resources, or related field; or 2 years per year of education equivalence.
• 6+ years of consulting or industry experience with power clients on complex projects.
• Experience managing routing and siting of electric transmission projects in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region.
• Excellent writing, communication, strategic/critical thinking and people skills.
• Strong knowledge of transmission line siting and construction best practices and impact assessment issues.
• Travel up to 15 percent.

Responsibilities

• Direct routing and siting studies, oversee analyses and report preparation for new-build transmission projects.
• Oversee multiple projects within client scope, budget, and schedule; assure deliverable quality.
• Delegate tasks to experts and mentor junior staff.
• Prepare written expert witness testimony for hearings and provide oral testimony when required.
• Participate in agency meetings and public open houses, in-person or online.
• Prepare technical proposals and assist in business development with existing clients and leads.
• Build collaborative relationships with ERM colleagues.
