Job summary

The Phoenix Business Journal, part of ACBJ, seeks a Managing Editor to lead and grow the newsroom. This role guides daily editorial operations, shaping coverage for online and print with a strong digital emphasis.

The candidate will coach staff, drive digital excellence, and manage resources across online, mobile, email, print, and social platforms, ensuring timely, high-quality storytelling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a top leadership role
• Understanding of changing media landscape and ability to adapt
• Ability to exceed expectations in a results-oriented environment
• Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with InDesign and MS Office; familiarity with collaboration tools (Teams/Webex/Zoom)

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day newsroom operations from conception to publishing across platforms
• Lead and coach reporters and editors to drive digital excellence
• Direct deployment of resources online, on mobile, in email, print and social
• Maintain newsroom organization, timeliness, and alignment with audience needs
