Job description

Job Title: Lead Early Childhood Educator

The Lead Early Childhood Educator works collaboratively with their classroom teaching partner, teaching team, and school-wide team, as well as partnering with families and the leadership team. The goal is to carry out a classroom vision that meets the needs of individual children and the class, supporting students' learning interests.

Responsibilities include supervising and implementing the classroom curriculum in line with school goals, philosophy, and policies. This involves preparing lesson plans, classroom materials, student observations, and planning developmentally appropriate learning activities that promote social-emotional, physical, language arts, cognitive, and spiritual development across various areas such as art, dramatic play, environmental awareness, multicultural/anti-bias education, math, science, motor skills, music, health, and outdoor exploration.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with educational staff to deepen understanding of teaching and learning, and to create meaningful and responsive learning experiences.
  • Guide the development and revision of classroom curriculum based on changing classroom dynamics and student interests.
  • Ensure the Jewish educational vision of the BAS school is reflected in daily practices.
  • Meet the diverse learning styles and emotional needs of children through differentiation.
  • Support constructivist instruction by modeling and coaching.
  • Observe and listen to children, document their projects, and facilitate their learning research.
  • Create supportive, inspiring learning environments based on children's interests and needs.
  • Document curriculum activities in the classroom, maintaining standards aligned with a constructivist approach.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Leadership team to uphold best practices and school goals.
  • Address parent concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate classroom documentation and represent the school professionally.
  • Ensure current certification in Pediatric First Aid, CPR for infants and children, and medication administration training.
  • Participate in leadership development, supervision, mentoring, and adult learning training.
  • Maintain strict supervision of children at all times.
Agency Expectations
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Be punctual and dependable.
Qualifications
  • 1-5 years of classroom experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field; Jewish education experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills with parents and professional interaction.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks efficiently.
  • High energy, responsibility, teamwork, and flexibility.
