Job summary

The University of Miami seeks a Sr. Driver to provide secure transportation for the IDRU Mobile Research Unit and other department vehicles. You will ensure safe operation, follow policies, perform inspections, and maintain proper records.

This role supports logistics for research activities, transports staff, participants, specimens, supplies, and equipment, and ensures compliance with DOT/OSHA/biosafety requirements while coordinating with management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant driving/operational experience.
• Valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Reports any criminal or suspicious activities.
• Informs staff about hazardous road conditions and citations or incidents.
• Conducts visual and physical inspection of the vehicle before, during, and after operation.
• Refuels and cleans the interior of the vehicle.
• Reports and addresses maintenance problems or vehicle service needs.
• Maintains contact with managing staff and follows instructions.
• Follows established routes and detours only when necessary.
• Maintains time schedules and records.
• Adheres to policies and safeguards University assets.
