Job Description
Serves as the supervisor for the transportation team, coordinating driver schedules, vehicle assignments, and daily operations to meet resident and program needs. Transports residents safely and professionally to and from designated locations. Holds team members accountable for service quality and adherence for policy.
Job Duties (Essential)
- Schedules medical appointments and organizes daily transportation schedule to ensure maximum number of appointments provided and residents transported in the most efficient manner.
- Coordinates with the Pathways to Wellness and Recreation Therapy managers to schedule and support resident programming trips.
- Drives vehicles to transport residents to and from regular and scheduled activities and appointments on and off campus in a safe and timely manner.
- Schedules and tracks vehicle maintenance with approved vendors and maintains accurate records including vehicle registrations, mileage logs, and inspection records.
- Completes pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and documents findings according to policy.
- Services the transportation vehicles, including checking and replenishing gas, oil, and water supplies. Cleans inside and outside the vehicles on a regular basis and sees that all vehicles are clean prior to use.
- Provides pick-ups and deliveries for other departments and the support office as regularly scheduled or directed.
- Responsible for the safety and comfort of all passengers, adhering to and enforcing transportation policies at all times.
- Knowledge of wheelchair securement procedures and passenger restraint systems.
- Completes accident reporting procedures according to policy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, their family members, team members, and service providers in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Ability to assist residents in and out of vehicles and accompany them to appointments and events as necessary.
- Ability to move in and out of and around vehicles of various proportions.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and proficient manner.
- Knowledge of vehicle operation, safety checks, and maintenance scheduling.
- Ability to manage complex schedules and competing priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information and health-related appointments.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum two years of driving experience in a transportation or senior living setting preferred.
- Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with P endorsement preferred.
- Must possess a driving record that complies with the Pinnacle Living risk management policy.
- First aid and CPR required.
DOT physical, DOT drug screening & current Medical Examiners Certificate required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Able to lift up to 50lbs frequently and repeatedly in a standard working shift.
- Works inside in a variety of settings and outside in heat and cold.
- Must be available for unseen circumstances and emergencies.
- Universal staffing. Flexible schedule required including the ability to work varied hours including weekends, evenings, holidays, and during inclement weather.
- Exposure to the sights, sounds, and odors of a typical long-term care and health care environment serving senior citizens, some with dementia.
