Job summary

LaSalle Network seeks a Lead Dispatcher in Chicago, IL, to run day-to-day delivery operations and serve as the operational hub reporting to the CEO. The role manages a union driver team, coordinates a mixed fleet, and drives ERP/dispatch system implementation. Base compensation is $85,000 with benefits.

The candidate will lead driver meetings, maintain logs, and ensure accurate invoicing while coordinating with mechanics for repairs. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Qualifications

• At least five years of dispatch experience.
• Managerial mindset with experience leading drivers, including union workforce.
• Experience with ERP systems and dispatch software, and ability to learn new tools.
• Strong recordkeeping and attention to detail.
• Experience in building materials, construction supply, or related deliveries is a plus.
• DOT familiarity or driving background is a plus.
• Must live close to the Chicago office.

Lead Dispatcher | Chicago, IL | Direct Hire

About The Role

Our client, an established Chicago building materials supplier, is looking for a Lead Dispatcher to run day-to-day delivery operations. In a lean, hands-on company, this person is the operational hub: scheduling and leading a union driver team and reporting directly to the CEO. If you want a role with real ownership and a direct line to leadership, this is it.

What You’ll Do

• Schedule and manage a driver team day to day. Most deliveries are prescheduled, and the rest require real-time scheduling and adjustments.
• Lead drivers directly by holding driver meetings, coaching, and handling documentation and write-ups.
• Coordinate across a mixed fleet, including flatbed, dump, and concrete trucks.
• Work with in-house mechanics when a truck needs a road repair.
• Keep accurate delivery logs and make sure orders are invoiced correctly.
• Communicate delivery status and timing to customers as needed.
• Help roll out a new ERP and dispatch system this spring, including geofencing, real-time status updates, driver phone integration, and e-signature capability.

What You Bring

• At least five years of dispatch experience.
• A manager's mindset: comfortable leading drivers, giving direct feedback, and working with a union workforce.
• Experience with an ERP system and dispatch software, and comfort learning a new one.
• Strong recordkeeping and attention to detail.
• Experience in building materials, construction supply, plumbing or roofing supply, concrete, or a similar delivery-fleet environment is a plus.
• DOT familiarity or a driving background is a plus.
• Must live close to the office in Chicago.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with an early start to match the drivers.
• Busy season runs March through November, with two Saturdays a month (6:30 to 11:30 AM) from April through November.
