Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Full-Time

Location: Lincoln Park, NJ
Shift: Sunday - Thursday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Pay Information:
Base Rate: $18.70/hour.
Weekend Rate: $19.70/hour.

Job Overview

Advancing Opportunities, an affiliate of Apis Services, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at the Lincoln Park Group Home in New Jersey, supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.

As a Lead DSP, you will work closely with Group Home Managers to ensure high-quality care, compliance with standards, and smooth communication with guardians, healthcare providers, and community agencies.

Our Mission: To achieve full societal participation for all people with disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead DSPs provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship to residents and DSP staff while supporting the daily operations of the group home. Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with Group Home Managers to ensure all aspects of care meet program standards.
  • Communicate effectively with guardians, doctors, and community agencies.
  • Provide direct care and support to residents, including:
    • Daily living skills (cooking, housekeeping, hygiene).
    • Health and wellness (personal medical care, healthy living).
    • Community participation (shopping, recreation, outings).
    • Social and emotional development (coping skills, communication, friendships).
    • Budgeting and money management.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to DSP staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with agency policies and procedures.
  • Promote independence, dignity, and autonomy for residents.
Qualifications
  • 21 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 3 years experience as a DSP with behavioral clients.
  • 1 year of lead/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete:
    • State and Federal criminal background checks.
    • Drug screening.
    • Pre-employment physical and PPD.
  • Willingness to complete all required orientation and pre-service training.
