Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services at Southeast Virginia Training Center is seeking a Lead Direct Support Professional for the PM shift. You will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a person-centered, therapeutic environment, provide supervision, and assist with daily living skills.

The role is essential personnel, with shift differential and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must have active, valid driver’s license.
• Prior experience managing or leading a shift.
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be dependable, accountable, and reliable.
• Must have ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Must have ability to work with an integrated team.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, training, and supervision for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Managing staff assignments and ensuring all shift tasks are completed efficiently.
• Run training programs, administer medications, collect data and complete documentation.
• Contribute to and maintain an environment that is supportive of individual choices, enriching, homelike, safe and nurturing.
• Support and instruct individuals in daily living skills including self-help, personal hygiene, independent living, and social development.
• Monitor leisure time, recreational, social and activities of choice.
• May be supporting individuals receiving emergency stabilization services.
• Drive facility vans to transport individuals.
• Respond to crises with effective management techniques, ensuring safety for all.
• Complete special assignments as directed by supervisors.
