Job summary

Charter Senior Living of Danvers is seeking a Dining Server - Team Leader to meet quality, productivity and resident-service standards. You will supervise dining room staff, schedule staffing, train team members and assist with room service requests, while supporting the Dining Services Director.

You will lead by example, maintain cleanliness, manage side work and respond to resident concerns professionally, ensuring safety and health standards across dining areas.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, verbal and written; English language skills adequate for residents and staff.
• Continuous interest in elderly care and willingness to learn with initiative.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Dining Server

POSITION SUMMARY

The Server - Team Leader is directly responsible for meeting or exceeding all standards of quality, productivity, customer service to all Residents, prospective residents and guests in all dining rooms. Maintain and schedule appropriate staffing levels, train and supervise dining room staff to provide the Residents the best services available at all times. Assist the Dining Services Director with staffing, cleaning and room service requests. Promote a thorough and continuous understanding among all employees of the importance of the Dining Services Department to the quality of life for all residents and prospective residents.

Report to the Dining Services Director or Executive Director all emergencies, all team members who require training, guidance or discipline greater than you are capable of providing and observable changes in all residents’ behavior or health status that would indicate a change in their care plan.

Responsibility for the supervision of the team members assigned to you and, working together, provide the services of your department to each resident of the Community. All of your activities must maintain a holistic perspective of service and total care of all residents. Lead by example and make certain that the programs and services lead by you, maximize each resident’s quality of life, identify, interests, abilities and preferences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hire, orient, train, schedule and evaluate team members in their duties under direction of the Dining Services Team Leader and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Supervise service of all meals that occur within your scheduled work hours.
• Assist residents and other servers in all areas of resident service (salads, soup, entrees, beverages, desserts, etc.) as necessary.
• Chart and assign sections for all Dining Room team members.
• Ensure proper set up of dining room tables with all utensils, chinaware and glassware. Refill sugars, salt, pepper and butter dishes for all tables.
• Remove tablecloths, clean and reset. Clean off all dining room chairs.
• Fill beverage machines and make coffee, juice, etc.
• Set up and replenish salad bar as necessary.
• Assist in setting up daily room trays to rooms. Assist in delivering room service trays.
• Keep all work areas safe and maintain in health standards.
• Clean and supervise performance of all cleaning and other side work in dining room and kitchen areas. Establish and post side work assignments for all dining room personnel on all shifts. Sweep all dining room floors as needed.
• Present a professional demeanor that communicates to current and prospective residents the corporate philosophy of service, goodwill and genuine interest in the residents’ unique needs. Handle all resident concerns and complaints in a professional and caring manner. Conduct yourself and your business at all times so as not to detract from or reflect adversely on the reputation of the property.
• While on duty, diligently and conscientiously devote your full and exclusive time and attention, to your best skills and efforts to the discharge of your duties.
• Communicate to supervisor all resident, personnel and other matters and information which could concern or in any way be beneficial to property.Perform such other tasks as may be required from time to time by the management of the property.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Good communication skills, verbal and written; English language skills adequate to allow communication with residents and staff, and to understand written and verbal instructions. Compassion for the elderly and sick. Self-motivation.
• A continuous and consistent demonstrated interest in and knowledge about the elderly and their needs and the competency to meet those needs on a consistent basis. An interest in and willingness to learn and a demonstrated initiative in developing skills in caring for the elderly consistent with the philosophy and policies of the Community.
• Must be able to routinely follow written and verbal instructions.
