• Monitors scanner functionality and equipment performance; including coordinating preventive maintenance and service activities with vendors.
• Troubleshoots scanner and workflow issues and escalates concerns as needed.
• Oversees rescanning workflows and corrective actions related to image quality and/or scanner failures.
• Develops, implements and improves standard workflows, procedures, and QA processes for digital pathology operations.
• Coordinates activities with pathologists, residents, researchers, staff and outside facilities to support digital pathology services.
• Maintains oversight of image management systems, digital storage, archival processes, and export requests.

Job Description

The Lead Digital Pathology Coordinator provides advanced operational, technical, and administrative support for the Digital Pathology program within the Anatomic Pathology Department. This role oversees daily digital pathology workflow operations, coordinates scanning activities, monitors equipment performance and maintenance, and serves as the primary resource for troubleshooting and workflow optimization. The Lead Digital Pathology Coordinator is responsible for ensuring high-quality digital slide imaging for daily slide viewing, consultation, teaching/research, tumor board, clinical conferences, and archival imaging. This position will function as a lead resource for staff, vendors, and other outside facilities as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

• Leads and coordinates daily operations of the digital pathology program and imaging workflow.
• Oversees scheduling and prioritization of scanning requests to ensure optimal turnaround times.
• Serves as the primary resource for all digital pathology operations, providing guidance and support to staff involved in scanning workflows.
• Monitors scanner(s) functionality and equipment performance; including coordinating preventive maintenance and service activities with vendors for all digital pathology equipment.
• Troubleshoots scanner(s), and workflow issues and escaltes concerns appropriately when needed.
• Oversees rescanning workflows, and corrective actionsrelated to image quality and/or scanner failures.
• Develops, implements and improves standard workflows, procedures, and quality assurance processes related to digital pathology operations.
• Coordinates activities with pathologists, residents, researchers, laboratory staff, administrative staff and outside facilities to support the utilization of digital pathology services.
• Maintains oversight of image management systems, digital storage, archival processes, and export requests to ensure integrity, accessibility, and compliance.
• Maintains organized tracking systems, spreadsheets, schedules, and workflow documentation related to digital pathology operations and equipment maintenance.
• Coordinates implementation of any new digital pathology projects, upgrades, validations and expansion initiatives.
• Acts as a liaison between department leadership, IT, vendors, and service providers regarding scanner maintenance, software updates, equipment troubleshooting, and operational concerns.
• Assists in onboarding and training staff on digital pathology workflows, scanning procedures, quality standards, and image management systems.
• Supports continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and enhance digital pathology services across the Anatomic Pathology Department.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in pathology, histology, or digital pathology
• Experience with computer systems required including web-based applications, which may include Outlook, Word and Excel
• Prior leadership, lead, or project coordination experience preferred.

Physical Nature of the job Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, walking and standing required only occasionally.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $24.26 - $32.64 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
