Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Tampa, FL is seeking a Diesel Technician in Charge to lead a repair team on heavy-duty equipment. You will supervise technicians, oversee parts distribution, and ensure quality service for customers, while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work
• Diagnostics and repairs, including AC, electrical systems
• Advanced skilled level repairs to include some major engine repairs, diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs, required
• Four (4) years or more Relevant work experience, preferred
• Must be able to read codes and instructions on the computer
• Must have computer experience in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, internet and other related
• Maintenance computerized programs in order to create reports or communicate with customers, vendors and company representatives
• All other certification as required by location, required

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting and training Technicians as needed, providing customer service to the daily customers, and giving feedback to the Service Manager on the performance of employees for appraisal or disciplinary purposes
• In addition, the Technician in Charge may also oversee parts distribution & inventory, shop reporting, warranty recovery, unit tracking, payroll administration and other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager
