Job summary

SRM Concrete is seeking a hands-on Shop Manager / Diesel Mechanic in Texas to lead shop operations, mentor your team, and perform repairs on our diesel trucks, mixers, and heavy equipment.

In this working manager role you’ll schedule maintenance with the operations team, uphold safety standards, document all work, and stay current with diesel engine technology to keep the fleet delivery-ready.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Shop Manager, or Lead Technician; experience in concrete or heavy equipment is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex issues with diagnostic tools.
• Leadership, teaching, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanics and shop staff, focusing on safety, efficiency, and quality.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel vehicles and heavy machinery.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify problems and determine solutions.
• Rebuild or replace major diesel engine components such as heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions.
• Collaborate with operations to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies in shop and job sites.
• Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work.
• Stay current on diesel engine technology and industry best practices.
• Pitch in wherever needed and work hands-on with the team.
