Job summary

AUTOKINITON is hiring for Lead Die Repair – 1st Shift at our Avon, Ohio plant. You will lead Tool & Die Makers, assign work for tooling repairs, and mentor apprentices, while ensuring tooling reliability and continuous improvement.

The role requires high school diploma or GED, automotive stamping experience, and prior leadership. 1st shift with OT as needed; $40.50/hr base plus $2/hr Journeyman premium; union with UAW Local 2000.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Automotive stamping experience is required.
• Previous leadership or lead experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and day-to-day support to Tool & Die Makers and apprentices.
• Prioritize and assign work to ensure tooling repairs, preventative maintenance, and production support activities are completed efficiently.
• Train, mentor, and assist in the development of Tool & Die associates and apprentices.
• Monitor tooling performance and maintain a data-driven tool improvement program focused on die reliability and performance.
• Build, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify progressive and transfer dies, fixtures, gauges, jigs, and tooling components.
• Perform extensive die maintenance, including rebuilding die sections, retiming pads and forms, engineering changes, spotting dies, and iron-to-iron fitting.
• Runs strip and/or blanks through the die.
• Inspect tooling before, during, and after machining using precision measuring equipment and gauging instruments.
• Perform machining operations utilizing Tool Room equipment in accordance with company standards.
• Heat treat tools and components as required.
• Troubleshoot tooling and press issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain fixture, gauge, tooling, and perishable component inventories.
• Assist in completing work orders, purchase requisitions, tooling documentation, and related records.
• Coordinate engineering changes, tooling projects, and production support activities.
• Update department priorities and communicate shift activities during shift handoffs.
• Promote and maintain housekeeping and 6S standards throughout the Tool Room.
• Operate Tool Room machinery and equipment in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety regulations.
