Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior engineering leader in Maryland to help guide a modest team and partner with program leadership to raise its performance. You will drive architectural direction, contribute core code, and ensure scalable, cloud-based solutions are delivered with high quality.

You will work with cross-functional teams and external clients to translate complex needs into robust, well-documented designs, while promoting best practices and agile collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or other relevant technical areas.
• Experience deploying or migrating production applications to cloud-based Kubernetes environments with high availability.
• Understanding of cloud computing platforms and services, particularly AWS.
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), emphasizing Terraform/OpenTofu.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Ruby, or Go.
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing fundamentals, containerization, and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Self-starter with a willingness to ask forgiveness, not permission.
• Proven track record of collaborating in agile teams, participating in code reviews.
• Experience directly interfacing with clients to deliver high-quality features on schedule.
