Job summary

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company is seeking a Development Engineer to lead technical efforts from concept through qualification and production. You will develop data packages, create 3D concepts, perform design trades, and interface with customers and suppliers to support risk reduction testing.

The ideal candidate holds a BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, has proven leadership and hands-on experience with 3D modeling, GD&T, and SolidWorks, and can obtain DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in an engineering discipline with project/design experience.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing timelines.
• Ability to apply customer requirements and government specs to design.
• Experience generating 3D models and 2D drawings, SolidWorks preferred.
• Ability to interpret GD&T and communicate with management and customers.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Must be able to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical aspects of internal/external projects from concept through production.
• Develop and maintain the technical data package and 3D concepts.
• Perform design trade studies and hand calculations.
• Interface with customers on design, interface, and functional details.
• Coordinate with suppliers for prototype parts and risk reduction testing.
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings and design reviews.
• Generate requirements, allocation, flow down and verification.
• Ensure technical compliance and manage risk.
• Coordinate project team technical tasks and documentation.
