Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a detailing and BIM coordination professional to support 100% employee-owned operations in Schertz, Texas. The role emphasizes leading the detailing team, coordinating with design and modeling groups, and ensuring constructability across HVAC, piping, and sheet metal trades.

The candidate should demonstrate strong communication, multi-tasking, and a solid understanding of CAD/BIM tools, with experience driving the model toward timely deliverables and successful

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents and drawings.
• Experience coordinating detailing and model development with design and field teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailing team on smaller or less complex projects, ensuring constructability.
• Partner with design/modeling group to minimize model rework through timely collaboration.
• Coordinate communications among project team members to resolve issues.
• Provide material, content, and feedback to team members as needed.
• Lead final trade coordination and sign-off with General Contractor.
• Contribute to design pull schedule to guide model development and deliverables.
• Manage project resources and support budget accountability.

Job description

Supports construction projects through the creation, coordination, and management of shop drawings, BIM modeling, and MEP systems. Collaborates across teams, contributes to project efficiency and accuracy.

• Leads detailing team and constructability on generally smaller or less complex assigned projects.
• Partners with the design and modeling group to incorporate constructability knowledge in a timely manner to minimize model rework.
• Leads communication between the project team members to ensure a successful product; ensures concerns are addressed and resolved.
• Provides material, content and feedback to applicable team members as needed.
• Leads the final trade coordination and sign-off process on the project working in conjunction with the General Contractor.
• Contributes to design pull schedule to direct the model development to meet deliverables.
• Manages resources assigned to the project.
• Participates in conceptual design efforts to promote modular construction and constructability standards.
• Supports budget and has cost accountability.

Qualifications

• High School or GED and 6 years of progressive detailing experience or trade apprentice program completion and 4 years of related field experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction or related field preferred
• Field Foreman/General Foreman preferred
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to write, edit and proofread content.
• Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents
• Current knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal trades and field installation methods
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to coordinate projects
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to interpret the Construction Schedule to integrate a design pull schedule
• Working knowledge of applicable AEC, BIM, CAD software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD)
