Job summary

GW Modular in Houston seeks a Senior Designer to lead the creation of detailed models, drawings, and BOMs for modular data center infrastructures. You will coordinate with engineers, mentors, and production to ensure flawless releases.

The role requires 10+ years in SolidWorks design, strong interface coordination, and a track record of reliable estimates and on-time design delivery. This is an onsite, collaborative environment with manufacturing floor interaction.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of SolidWorks design experience in modular structures or comparable assemblies.
• Strong ability to coordinate complex assemblies, fabrication drawings, and BOMs.
• Experience leading design package reviews and resolving interfaces with multiple teams.
• Proven mentoring skills for junior designers and capability to estimate design effort.

Responsibilities

• Lead design packages from layout through production release using SolidWorks and CAD tools.
• Develop detailed models, drawings, and BOMs for modular structures, enclosures, and mechanical assemblies.
• Coordinate power, cooling, piping, and cable management interfaces with responsible disciplines.
• Check dimensions, tolerances, materials, and fabrication details against requirements and capabilities.
• Lead design reviews, track decisions, close comments, and escalate unresolved inputs.
• Support structural and thermal analysis with model data and design alternatives approved by engineers.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing to improve fabrication and reduce shop questions.
• Support prototypes, testing, and validation; implement lessons learned into drawings and models.
• Maintain PDM discipline and revision traceability; ensure released drawings are consistent.
• Mentor designers and help estimate effort, prioritizing design work.
