Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a senior engineering lead to manage conceptual design for complex projects and oversee a larger group of engineers. You will guide design efforts, ensure technical standards, and support cross-functional teams through project lifecycles.

Responsibilities include leading design reviews, performing advanced calculations, and visiting sites to resolve construction issues. This role requires strong communication, leadership, and CAD proficiency to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• Mastery knowledge of systems design (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) and design engineering aspects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to interact with all levels.
• Strong leadership and public speaking skills.
• Proficient with CAD and Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Set department objectives aligned with company strategy.
• Ensure engineering standards are followed across projects.
• Provide design and engineering support to other departments as needed.
• Serve as design expert at project team meetings and reviews.
• Prepare complex redline design layouts for estimating.
• Perform advanced calculations (heating/cooling loads, sizing, friction loss).
• Conduct site inspections to verify conformance with construction documents.
