Job summary

Jobtailor in Arlington, VA is seeking a senior software engineer to own Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes operations, and automation for a multi-site, multi-system microservice application.

You will mentor a small team, drive AI-assisted coding, integrate Docker and Kubernetes tooling, and implement secure, scalable deployment practices across cloud and airgapped environments, and collaborate with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/CE/EE/Systems/Physics/Math or equivalent.
• 7+ years in software development and deployment in rigorous environments.
• Strong Docker and Kubernetes proficiency.
• Experience with Helm or ArgoCD for cluster management.
• Networking in virtualized envs: TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls.
• Automation with Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Salt; AI tooling for scripts.
• Strong Linux and Bash/Shell scripting.
• Basics of SQL, Python/Java, JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Define and control project scope to deliver all milestones.
• Lead a team to develop, deploy, and maintain IaC for multi-site app.
• Operate Kubernetes clusters across unclassified and airgapped environments.
• Design solutions using modern data structures and patterns.
• Debug deployment and configuration issues.
• Mentor engineers and drive adoption of AI tools.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
