Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior DevOps engineer to drive cloud infrastructure on AWS, with strong Kubernetes expertise and edge/on-prem deployment experience. You will automate deployments, mentor engineers, and lead efforts to ensure high availability and performance across production systems.

The role requires 9+ years in DevOps or related fields, deep AWS/Kubernetes skills, and DoD 8140/8570 certifications. A collaborative, leadership-oriented mindset is essential for success.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development and a related Bachelor's degree; or 7 years with a related Master's degree; or 13 years with a High School Diploma.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or similar container orchestration.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda).
• Proficient with Terraform and Ansible for configuration management.
• Experience with application, container, and OS deployment and scaling.
• Programming in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, and deployment tools.
• Comfortable in a terminal-based environment.
• Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Understanding of AGILE methodologies and standard tool suites.
• Demonstrated experience as a tech lead, mentor, or engineering manager.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications (e.g., Security+).

Responsibilities

• Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS.
• Support deployment of on-premise and portable Edge infrastructure.
• Automate deployment processes for reliability and scalability.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and AWS infrastructure.
• Collaborate with developers to integrate applications into infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and resolve issues.
• Continuously improve processes for high availability and performance.
• Stay current with new technologies and trends; explore improvements.
• Provide mentorship and leadership within engineering teams.
