Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Lead Dental Assistant at the Ernest Childers Outpatient Clinic within the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System.

The role plans and completes dental tasks per established protocols, works independently with dentist support, and informs the supervisor with recommendations. Applicants should meet basic requirements including US citizenship; CODA-accredited education or equivalent; radiography certification or clearance; and the ability to supervise

Qualifications

• Experience in dental assisting at a professional level.
• Completion of CODA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Knowledge of radiographic procedures and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform mouth mirror inspections and gather diagnostic information.
• Place/remove rubber dams, matrix bands, and retraction cords.
• Prepare dental medicaments and impression materials as required.
• Assist in restorative, surgical, endodontic, and prosthodontic procedures using four-handed techniques.
