Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, New Mexico VA Health Care System Dental Service, is seeking a Staff Dental Assistant at the full performance level.

This role performs a full range of duties with some independence, under supervision for complex issues, and daily supervision at the work site. Qualifications include a CODA-accredited 1-year dental assistant program or six months of related experience, English proficiency, and radiologic/safety certification options.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in dental assisting or completion of a CODA-accredited 1-year program.
• Radiographic competency and safety knowledge.
• Basic life support certification is highly desirable.
• DANB certification is desirable for higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide dental assisting support for routine and selected procedures under supervision.
• Prepare operatory, sterilize equipment, and maintain dental records.
• Operate dental imaging equipment and assist with radiographs as needed.
