We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to guide strategic decisions and develop reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Our goal is to create safe AI solutions that will revolutionize healthcare experiences and outcomes for our customers. Join our rapidly expanding team of dedicated data scientists, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders as we work together to build impactful AI systems.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing the execution of data science strategies and initiatives, including design, development, and implementation.
  2. Guiding and executing strategic decisions in collaboration with data scientists, software engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-impact AI use case solutions.
  3. Leading the development and maintenance of complex machine learning models and algorithms.
  4. Overseeing the development and integration of advanced machine learning models into production systems.
  5. Designing and implementing monitoring capabilities to maintain optimal performance and reliability.
  6. Creating reports, projections, models, and presentations for executive audiences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree and 5+ years of experience in research, ML engineering, or applied research, preferably with a focus on production-ready AI solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience leading AI/ML system development.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data analysis/mining tools.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks like Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Experience with high-performance, large-scale ML systems.
  • Experience with language modeling using transformers.
  • Experience with reinforcement learning.
  • Experience with large-scale ETL processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.

Work from Home Guidance:

To work effectively remotely, your internet must meet minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload, with wired or wireless connections preferred. Satellite, cellular, or microwave connections require leadership approval. Employees in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will receive a bi-weekly internet expense payment. Humana provides necessary telephone equipment and expects a dedicated, interruption-free workspace to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.

Scheduled Weekly Hours:

Pay Range:

$142,300 - $195,700 annually, commensurate with experience and location. The position is eligible for performance-based bonuses.
