Merck & Co. in Cambridge, MA, seeks an Associate Director of Data Science to lead Functional Genomics & Predictive Modeling, shaping how evidence is generated and interpreted across discovery.

You will own the computational and modeling frameworks that range from hit calling for CRISPR screens to multi-evidence integration for target prioritization and drug combinations. Qualifications

• MS in computational biology or related STEM field with strong quantitative skills.
• PhD preferred with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience analyzing large scale NGS and functional genomics datasets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and build of scalable computational analytics frameworks for pooled, arrayed, single cell, and optical CRISPR screens.
• Invent and scale computational methods for functional genomics, including single cell perturbation screening and lineage tracing.
• Build image analysis pipelines for high content and optical CRISPR screens to derive biological insights for target prioritization.
• Integrate genomics and imaging results with transcriptomics and proteomics to create multi-evidence target prioritization packages.
• Apply modern AI/ML, including LLM powered workflows, to triage targets and synthesize evidence.
• Lead and mentor a team of scientists, establishing standards for reproducible research and FAIR data infrastructure.
• Collaborate across disciplines with experimental scientists, software engineers, and external partners.
