Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to drive the design, development, and modernization of enterprise data platforms that power analytics and business intelligence.

You will lead a hands-on team, partner with stakeholders, and deliver scalable solutions on AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, and SQL, while promoting engineering excellence and best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in data engineering fields.
• 6 years of data engineering / data warehousing / cloud data platforms experience.
• Experience with AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of enterprise data solutions using AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL, and related cloud technologies.
• Develop and support data warehouses, ODS, and ETL/ELT pipelines for analytics and reporting.
• Design batch and real-time data processing solutions using streaming architectures.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Define data quality strategies, governance, and compliance controls across the data platform.
• Establish enterprise testing, data validation, and dbt testing standards.
• Define monitoring and observability standards including dashboards, SLOs, and SLAs.
• Establish deployment strategies and release governance for enterprise data platforms.
• Contribute to technical discussions, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Leverage AI-powered development tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
