Job summary

BP Americas, Inc. in Houston seeks an experienced Senior Area Facing Data Manager to lead data strategy and delivery for Gulf of America Exploration. The role requires hands-on leadership, solving complex seismic data challenges and coordinating across GoA teams and Pune.

You will own data quality, standards, and lifecycle for the asset, interact with senior leadership, and mentor the AFDM team while driving improvements in data operations and governance.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in subsurface, seismic or geoscience data management.
• Petrel skills with Studio transfer workflow and administration.
• Deep SEG-Y expertise, including non-standard byte locations and geometry checks.
• Proficient in coordinate reference systems, projections and datums for offshore data.
• Strong communication skills to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring or reviewing work across time zones.
• Familiar with Azure DevOps or Jira for project planning and tracking.
• Data governance, standards setting and data quality focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead data relationship for GoA Exploration and set asset data strategy.
• Own portfolio delivery, prioritization and governance forums.
• Represent Digital Data Management to GoA leadership and domain teams.
• Develop data standards across the Western Hemisphere and drive onboarding.
• Oversee loading campaigns, handovers for wells and farm-in/out evaluations.
• Lead seismic and well data management in Petrel and Studio.
• Mentor AFDMs and junior staff, and drive end-to-end data improvements.
