Job summary

Purpose Financial seeks a seasoned Manager, Data Engineering in Greenville to lead a data engineering team and build scalable cloud environments. You will shape the technical vision, drive robust ingestion frameworks, and partner with executives on platform strategy.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in data leadership, strong cloud and open-source tool experience (Snowflake, AWS, DBT, NiFi, Airflow, Kafka, Spark), and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years in a leadership role within data engineering or architecture.
• Proven ability to inspire and motivate multiple teams.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (Snowflake, AWS) and modern data architectures.
• Daily development with Python/Java/Scala and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Open-source tools like Apache NiFi, Airflow, Kafka, Spark knowledge.
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of machine learning concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop a forward-thinking data engineering strategy and vision.
• Set expectations for high-quality output and rapid development cycles.
• Design scalable, high-performance data platforms for storage, processing, and analytics.
• Lead stakeholder relationships and ensure compliance with SLAs.
• Define data models, schemas, and standards for structured and unstructured data.
• Implement automation, orchestration, and monitoring for data pipelines.
• Collaborate with executives to align platform strategy with business goals.
• Mentor and grow a high-performing data engineering team.
• Evolve architecture for scalability, reliability, and modern tech adoption.
• Promote CI/CD culture and manage third-party vendors as needed.
• Drive cost-effective, reliable services and cross-department integration.
• Be a technical leader and influencer across the organization.
