Transamerica is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to design and support enterprise data systems for data-driven decisions across the company. You’ll collaborate across engineering, analytics, and product teams in a hybrid environment and drive scalable data pipelines and APIs.

The role emphasizes architecture, cloud and on‑prem integration, data quality, and governance, with opportunities to apply ML and analytical models within a modern tech stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, engineering, or relevant technical field
• Five years of collective experience in data engineering, analytics, warehousing, BI, DB administration, and data integration concepts
• Four years of experience architecting big data and real-time streaming architectures in on-prem and cloud
• Three years of experience architecting large-scale distributed applications
• Three years of Linux operations and shell scripting
• Three years of DevOps, CI/CD
• Demonstrated skills in delivering high-quality technical project solutions
• Expertise in SQL for data profiling, analysis, and extraction
• Familiarity with data science techniques and frameworks
• Creative thinker with strong analytical skills
• Results oriented with customer focus
• Ability to work in a team
• Strong technical communication skills
• Ability to learn and keep pace with latest tech

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, analytics teams, and product owners in agile environment
• Architect, build, and support cloud and on-prem data infrastructure and tools
• Design scalable data-driven solutions and pipelines for structured and unstructured data
• Lead development of data APIs and data delivery services for operational processes and ML apps
• Assist selection and integration of data tools and frameworks to expand platform capabilities
• Implement best practices for master, reference, metadata, data quality, and lineage
