Job summary

St. Jude is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to design, build, and support enterprise data solutions enabling clinical research, analytics, and data-driven decisions.

You will lead end-to-end data initiatives, architecture, security, and governance while guiding teams and aligning with institutional objectives. You will drive AI adoption, scalable data platforms, and modern data tooling, collaborating with researchers, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and high-quality

• Experience designing enterprise data solutions for clinical research, healthcare, or regulated environments.
• Ability to translate complex business and research requirements into scalable data architectures and integration solutions.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of enterprise data and analytics strategies that support clinical research, operational excellence, AI-enabled innovation, and organizational objectives.
• Provide expert leadership and guidance on data engineering, architecture, integration, governance, cloud platforms, analytics, and reporting.
• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable data models, data warehouses, and data integration solutions that enable access, analysis, visualization, and sharing of data.
• Serve as a technical lead for data modernization and digital transformation initiatives, driving adoption of modern data and AI technologies.
• Translate complex requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions using established standards and processes.
• Drive end-to-end ownership of data engineering initiatives including architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Implement and monitor data governance practices to ensure compliance, security, and data quality.
• Collaborate with researchers and IT teams to develop secure data sharing, analytics, and reporting solutions.
• Identify opportunities for data modernization, automation, and platform optimization.
