Base pay range

$180,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr

A world-leading trading firm is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to architect, scale, and optimize the data infrastructure powering its multi-billion-dollar systematic trading business. In this high-impact role, you’ll work alongside quantitative researchers and data scientists to design advanced data pipelines that unlock new sources of alpha.

This is a hands-on engineering role with deep product ownership — ideal for someone passionate about building fast, reliable, and scalable systems in a data-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Own large-scale structured and unstructured datasets across multiple modalities
• Build, automate, and maintain robust data pipelines in a cloud-native environment
• Collaborate with research and business teams to identify and onboard new datasets
• Develop tooling for data exploration, monitoring, and quality assurance
• Optimize schema design, query performance, and pipeline reliability
• Set up alerts, health checks, and validation systems to ensure data quality

Required Skills & Experience:

• Deep expertise in Python, SQL, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Strong experience with ETL processes, data normalization, and pipeline automation
• Familiarity with data modeling, versioning, scheduling (Airflow), and containers
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with time-series data and financial data sources
• Exposure to ML pipelines or research workflows
• Experience with DBT or other modern data tooling
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
