Job summary

Akaasa Technologies is seeking a Lead Data Engineer who can drive a cloud-first data platform. This role combines deep Databricks on Azure with leadership across multiple teams, clear stakeholder communication, and active mentoring of engineers.

You will guide architectural decisions, anticipate problems before they arise, and push forward AI/ML initiatives. Hands-on capability is valued, along with a track record in cloud-focused delivery; healthcare analytics experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering or leading data teams.
• 3–5+ years in cloud lead positions.
• Strong communication is essential for leading across teams and with stakeholders.
• Mentor team members and drive technical excellence across projects.
• Certified in Databricks and Azure is a big plus.
• Databricks and Azure are the core tech stack.
• Interest or experience in AI/ML initiatives is valued.
• Experience with cloud-only, multi-team projects across healthcare contexts is a plus.

JOB TITLE: Lead Data Engineer

REMOTE/ HYBRID - must be tier 1 location) - Prefer Louisville, Dallas, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale is that is where their team sits now

• Green Bay
• Boston
• Louisville
• Dallas/Frisco
• Ft. Lauderdale

The biggest clarification was that this is not simply a strong Data Engineer opening. It is a true technical lead need. Client is looking for someone who combines deep Azure/Databricks capability with substantial experience leading across multiple teams, communicating with stakeholders, mentoring others, and anticipating problems.

• 10+ years of experience
• At least 3-5+ years in cloud lead positions
• Good communication is KEY since this is a lead role
• Must be very strong technically
• Mentor team members
• Certified in data bricks, azure, etc. that's a big plus
• Tech Stack - Databricks, Azure
• AI is a key area - should be comfortable in AI / interest in learning new things but its ok if they don't have hands on working with AI - but some have personal projects, or understanding
• Data bricks is the biggest focus
• Working on a google project - so GCP is a plus
• Completely on cloud for most projectsWorking across multiple teams - should have exp leading larger groups / projects (does not want to see someone that has only led 2-3 people)
• Healthcare is a plus not required

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare or payer industry experience.
• Experience supporting Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare analytics initiatives.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Snowflake, Hadoop, or similar technologies.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other BI/reporting tools.
• Exposure to machine learning and advanced analytics environments.
• Experience working in highly regulated healthcare environments.
