Job description

The Senior Technical Owner will lead product development for a critical data-oriented function of our flagship product and will be responsible for management of data engineers and quality engineers within scrum teams. This role maintains overall responsibility for feature delivery of the engineering team, as well as shared responsibility for the overall product and technical roadmap.

What you will do

1. Lead an existing top-tier team of data and quality engineers
2. Partner with product management and other technical leaders to help shape the product and technical roadmaps, ensuring a strong connection between technical implementation and business need
3. Work with your senior team members and other SME’s to develop and maintain both technical- and business-level documentation for all processes within this data platform and how they intersect with other aspects of the overall system
4. Participate in the development of new technical/business solutions along with refinement of existing processes
5. Participate in planning for current and future engineering cycles and ensure delivery on all commitments
6. Participate in technical analysis, architecture reviews and feature readiness for teams
7. Own product technical roadmap including performance, security and architecture improvements
8. Provide necessary support to team members to ensure that the development meets functional requirements and project timelines
9. Drive the growth and development of the engineering team through strategic management, coaching, and skill development initiatives
10. Be accountable for architecture and quality of all product functionality
11. Develop plans to increase automation and effectiveness to minimize production breaks and shorten release cycle
12. Prioritize and resolve customer-reported bugs within the established timelines

What you will bring

1. 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with big data technologies like Databricks, Snowflake, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, or similar
2. Deep understanding of how to operate a big data platform in a cloud environment, such as cost management and operating within PaaS tools
3. Strong coding skills in Python/Scala/SQL or equivalent
4. Experience leading data engineering practices within a regulated industry and ensuring compliance with applicable contractual commitments, regulatory obligations, and applicable law
5. Expertise in SQL and Data analysis
6. Experience building, governing, and scaling data warehouses/lakes/lake houses
7. Experience managing teams using Agile Software Development Life Cycle, Scrum methodology, and DevOps principles and tracking productivity KPIs
8. Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

What we would like to see

1. Experience in managing globally distributed remote development teams
2. Azure experience as it pertains to PaaS (Platform as a Service) offerings (Synapse, Data Lake, DataBricks, Data Factory, Event Hubs, CosmosDB, etc.)
3. Masters or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Data Science or a related field
4. Strong understanding of data science, machine learning, and generative AI principles
5. 6+ years’ experience in Data Engineering and/or Software Engineering
6. Experience with Azure Databricks, AKS, SQL Server
7. Familiarity with adjacent technologies used in software development, particularly C#, .NET, and Angular
8. Experience with Healthcare Revenue Cycle concepts
