Job summary

Trillium Professional in the Boston area is seeking a hands-on Lead Data Center Technician for direct-hire. The role covers data center operations, IT hardware support, and facility monitoring under a long-term contract. Expect cross-site travel, a 7:00 AM-3:30 PM schedule, and local site work in Marlborough, Needham, and Metro Boston.

The ideal candidate is dependable, customer-focused, and able to lead a technical team under the Data Center Facilities Director supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; associate degree in a computer-related or technical field preferred.
  • Experience in data centers, critical facilities, IT infrastructure, or technical operations.
  • Hands-on experience installing, removing, and troubleshooting IT hardware.
  • Working knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire detection/suppression, and environmental systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, drawings, procedures, work instructions, and OEM documentation.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or a similar ticketing/work-order platform.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • BAS/Tridium experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, customer-facing critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate technician activities, priorities, installations, site coverage, access, and cross-training.
  • Ensure technicians are trained and qualified to work within the customer's critical environment.
  • Perform facility rounds and monitor critical equipment and operational systems.
  • Support preventive maintenance and identify equipment, environmental, and safety issues.
  • Coordinate and perform IT hardware installations, removals, rack-and-stack activities, reboots, and troubleshooting.
  • Install and support data cabinets, power strips, and data-jack terminals.
  • Follow the customer's change, asset, problem, and work-order management processes.
  • Coordinate third-party contractors, vendors, and technical resources.
  • Support shipping, receiving, deliveries, security rounds, and facility access.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and operationally ready data center environment.
  • Provide limited seasonal grounds support, including snow removal and salting.
  • Complete shift turnover reports, work summaries, ServiceNow tickets, and required documentation.
  • Communicate incidents, operational issues, and work status to company and customer management.
  • Support the installation and removal of equipment cabinets and electrical, cooling, fire-protection, and environmental systems.
  • Provide occasional off-hours support and cross-site coverage.

Job description

Trillium Professional is now seeking a Lead Data Center Technician for direct-hire in the Boston area!

Annual salary is $110,000-$125,000, based on experience. Candidates will work inMarlborough, Needham, and Metro Boston. Schedule isMonday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM. There will be local travel between customer sites; valid driver's license required.

We are seeking a hands-on Lead Technician to provide onsite data center and critical-facilities support under a long-term customer contract. This position combines data center operations, IT hardware support, facility monitoring, preventive maintenance, structured cabling, and technical team leadership.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, self-motivated, customer-focused, and comfortable working under the direction of the Data Center Facilities Director while continuing to develop critical-facilities expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate technician activities, priorities, installations, site coverage, access, and cross-training.

Structured Cabling
  • Install and remove fiber and copper cabling, including Cat5e and Cat6.
  • Route fiber-optic cables through ceilings, walls, trays, and J-hooks.
  • Maintain and test physical SAN and network infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; associate degree in a computer-related or technical field preferred.
  • Experience in data centers, critical facilities, IT infrastructure, or technical operations.
  • Hands-on experience installing, removing, and troubleshooting IT hardware.
  • Working knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire detection/suppression, and environmental systems.
