Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking a Lead Data and Analytics Developer for Customer Analytics in a hybrid Columbus, OH role. Lead the development of data products, dashboards, and self-service tools to drive informed decisions across customer interactions such as billing and site visits.

You will partner with business stakeholders to craft data models, datasets, and reports, while promoting governance and scalable analytics practices as a technical leader within the Data and Analytics organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in data-related fields.
  • 5+ years in data engineering, BI, or data science.
  • Experience with data acquisition and visualization tools.

In this role, you will partner closely with business stakeholders to understand complex challenges, prepare and transform data, and develop analytics, visualizations, dashboards, and self-service tools that drive informed decision-making and improve business outcomes.As a technical leader, you will help establish and promote data engineering, analytics, governance, and stewardship best practices while ensuring solutions are sustainable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards. You will lead the development of complex data products and visualizations, mentor and coach team members, review and delegate work, and provide guidance on technical design and implementation. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions that meet both business and technical needs.Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Acts in the capacity of subject matter and business intelligence expert for customer analytical technologies and drives adoption of self-service analytics capabilities to achieve value objectives within the businessDevelops and implements analytics solutions (including but not limited to data models, data sets, reports, dashboards, and integrated analytics) to solve business needs, accelerate insights and inform actions and adhere to data governance and BI policies and standardsConsults with Data Product Owner on the design of the Data Lake to maximize the quality, accessibility, and re-usability of dataEstablishes, promotes, and monitors adherence to policies and standards for business intelligence productsPartners with IT to ensure the technical stability and performance of user facing technology and establish upgrade strategies and roadmapsDevelops a strong understanding of customer business processes, company enterprise platform, and table structures/relationships to extract and report correct dataCreates a strategy to develop interactive dashboards and promote their adoption/use with stakeholders at all levels of the organizationDevelops and manages personal and team deliverables, timelines and milestones related to assigned projectsIs an expert in at least one coding language for shaping and extracting data and has a working knowledge of others (Python, SQL)Understands advanced approaches for data quality monitoring and the impact of quality issues on the effectiveness of analyticsUnderstands how data science can be applied to improve insights and lead to predictive and prescriptive solutionsActs as an internal consultant and partner for business teams to advance analytics maturity across the enterprise to include providing strategic insights, identifying opportunities, developing strategies, and mentoring staffYou must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.
