Job summary

UNITED STATES DIGITAL SPACE LLC in the United States seeks a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to lead the Starshield cyber defenses. The role is hands-on and requires broad experience in software and security, with focus on protecting production systems and national security data.

You will manage a 3-5 engineer team, perform red-team exercises, drive vulnerability discovery, and collaborate across teams to improve detection and response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer security, or a similar field and 7+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity for active production systems; OR 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity for active production systems.
• Experience leading a team of direct reports.
• Experience in implementing systems for adversary detection and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of cybersecurity engineers focused on immediate threat response.
• Implement Starshield's cyber defense strategy and run red-team style exercises to identify vulnerabilities.
• Lead vulnerability discovery efforts across Starshield and conduct bug hunts using the latest tools including AI.
• Drive improvements in incident discovery and response and collaborate with teams building security detection systems.
• Work across teams to deliver security features and internal incident discovery tools.
