Job summary

Verathon Inc. is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join the R&D team in Bothell, WA.

You will own system-level cybersecurity architecture, perform threat modeling, and translate FDA and consensus standards into actionable security requirements and verification evidence. You will collaborate with Software, Quality, and Regulatory teams to ensure products meet regulatory expectations throughout the lifecycle, from design to post-market activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.
• 5+ years in cybersecurity engineering for connected or regulated products.
• Experience with system-level threat modeling (STRIDE, MITRE ATT&CK for IC).
• Working knowledge of FDA guidance and standards (IEC 62443, AAMI SW96, IEC 81001-5-1).
• Experience defining security requirements and producing verification evidence in regulated environments.
• Experience with third-party penetration testing engagements preferred.
• Strong written communication skills for audit-ready documentation.

Responsibilities

• Define product security architecture and trust boundaries; review designs for authentication and cryptography.
• Lead system-level threat modeling and allocate mitigations across hardware, firmware, and software.
• Derive cybersecurity requirements from FDA guidance and standards; define verification strategy and ownership.
• Produce and maintain design-level security docs, traceability matrices, and interfaces records.
• Coordinate penetration testing engagements; assess findings and plan remediation with engineering.
• Support post-release remediation scope and verification; ensure deployment is properly documented.
• Lead interoperability security assessments for device interfaces with external systems.
