Job summary

The State of Rhode Island Department of Administration in the Trades division is seeking a Senior Janitor (JC-02162300-26) to manage cleaning, custodial work, and basic maintenance in a moderate-sized public building. The role supports supervision of a small team and follows a standard 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of cleaning methods, be able to follow written and oral directions, and be physically qualified to perform

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and custodial methods.
• Ability to supervise and follow oral and written directions.
• Physically able to perform assigned duties and maintain standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small group of custodial staff when needed.
• Clean, sweep, scrub, wash, and maintain floors and facilities.
• Move furniture, maintain rooms, and dispose of waste.
• Provide washrooms with supplies and run errands.
• Occasionally operate elevators and assist maintenance tasks.
