Job summary

Middletown Public Schools in Middletown, Rhode Island seeks a dependable Custodian to maintain clean, safe facilities across the district. You will perform routine cleaning, floor care, and general building maintenance in accordance with district plans and schedules.

Starting immediately, you will work 10:00am to 6:30pm, with supervision from the Custodial Foreperson and facilities leadership, supporting school operations, safety, and a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of safety standards applicable to work.
• Must be able to lift and carry eighty pounds.
• Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision, good oral communication.
• Must be able to neatly fill out time and material reports.
• Must be readily available for emergency calls 24 hours a day.
• Willing to participate in Sweat Equity/Team Program with others as required.
• Must have a home telephone for management contact.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping as per district plan.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, strip and finish floors and clean restrooms.
• Operate cleaning pads, floor machines and vacuums as required.
• Assist in setup/breakdown of furnishings for daily activities and events.
• Open/close facilities as directed and respond to spills or odors promptly.
