Job summary

Melwood in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Custodian under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman to perform cleaning tasks and help supervise the custodial crews to meet contract specifications.

The role covers floor care, restroom cleaning, window cleaning and general duties. A valid driver’s license, background check, drug screen and ability to obtain a government security clearance are required. Some shifts and transportation duties may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience in custodial work required.
• Valid drivers license is required. Some supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience with individuals with differing abilities preferred. Must be able to pass security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the Custodial Foreman, performs cleaning tasks to meet contract specs and assists in monitoring the custodial crews.
• Sweeps and mops hallways, stairs and offices, etc.
• Empties waste/recycle containers and disposes properly.
• Work various shifts with various supervisors according to contract specification.
• Clean restrooms, lockers, shower rooms and drinking fountains.
• Brunish and buffs floors with prescribed equipment; strip and wax surfaces.
• Cleans glass and interior windows.
• Dusts walls and other surfaces.
• Performs snow removal if required according to contract specifications.
• Train employees on various tasks.
• Vacuum carpets, floors and rugs; shampoo carpets with equipment.
• Drive company vehicle to transport supplies and staff.
• Maintains issued equipment; notifies supervisor when supplies/equipment needed.
• Supervises and inspects activities daily; assumes foreman duties when absent.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Custodial Foreman.
