Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a dedicated Lead Custodian to maintain cleanliness and order across our Maryland facilities, ensuring spaces are welcoming and sanitary for all who enter.

This part-time role runs 5:00 PM–9:00 PM with a base pay of $18.00 per hour, and responsibilities include grounds and building maintenance, restrooms, stock, and cleaning tasks. Prior custodial experience is preferred, and the candidate should be able to lift and move heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Grounds maintenance and general cleaning duties across the facility.
• Clean tables, benches, windows, and surfaces; empty trash and replenish liners.
• Spot clean interior/exterior areas and restrooms; restock supplies as needed.
• Maintain custodial closets and keep spaces organized and safe.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Lead Custodian to join our team. As the Lead Custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness throughout our facilities. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will ensure our spaces are welcoming and sanitary for all who enter.

Responsibilities:

• Grounds Maintenance:
• Police outside grounds for trash.
• Clean tables and benches.
• Empty trash cans and ash urns in smoking areas.
• Keep flower beds clear of debris.
• Building Maintenance:
• Sweep down cobwebs at all building entrances.
• Sweep all building entrances and patios.
• Spot clean inside and outside of glass doors.
• Remove gum from outside entrances with a scraper.
• Spot clean interior walls for smudges and stains.
• Empty trash cans and replace liners as needed.
• Spot vacuum and spot mop floors and carpets as needed.
• Pick up debris from plants and planters.
• Clean water fountains twice daily.
• Wipe down inside and outside of windowsills as needed.
• Prepare conference rooms before and after important meetings.
• Keep kitchen and breakroom areas clean.
• Restroom Maintenance:
• Restock paper supplies and empty trash as needed.
• Sanitize commodes, urinals, and sinks.
• Sweep floors and pick up debris.
• Spot mop floors as needed.
• Custodial Closets:
• Clean and maintain custodial closets.
• Keep closets organized and free of clutter.

Requirements:

• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
