Description
Maxmed Healthcare is seeking a Lead CT Technologist to provide full-time services to our Military Service members and their families at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC),Bethesda, Maryland.
This is a full-time position with flexible work hours, encompassing day, evening, and night shifts.
SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM:
- Responsible for coordinating scheduling between onsite CT Technicians, and the department.
- The contracted CT Technologist will provide the following services and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF, and IAW JC guidelines to include.
- Receive patients and explain procedures, providing appropriate care and communicate to alleviate fear of examination.
- Correctly position the patient for the examination and make adjustments necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required.
- Operate facility provided CT scanner and auto or manual injector according to MTF policy and procedures, and IAW JC guidelines.
- Perform a full range of CT examinations including contrast and non-contrast, Angiography, 3D reconstruction, head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities, Perfusions, Cardiac, Virtual Colonoscopy, Biopsies, Drainages, Pediatric Sedation scans and CT Fluoroscopy.
- Perform Intravenous Puncture on patients requiring IV contrast.
- Receive and interpret requests or instructions for CT scans. Perform daily warm up and assigned quality control checks of the CT scanner and emergency equipment (crash cart, reaction kits, contrast and blanket warmers, refrigerator).
- Identify abnormalities during testing and determine need for additional scans of affected area. Notify physician of significant scans requiring immediate attention.
- Maintain CT equipment and clean workplace on a regular basis in accordance to MTF Infection Control policy and procedure, and IAW JC guidelines. Maintain adequate supplies for room assigned.
- Stock and maintain an adequate level of supplies required to perform CT examinations. Recommend necessary monthly repairs when diagnostic quality is degraded.
- Differentiate artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognize electronic equipment limitations.
- Program the examination equipment. Set up the machine and scanning techniques to be employed. Perform all CT examinations according to MTF policy and procedures, and IAW JC guidelines.
- Adhere to radiation safety policies and procedures while operating equipment in accordance with Radiology Department policies and procedures, and IAW JC guidelines.
OTHER TASK AND RESPONSIBLITIES THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM:
- Ensure compliance with standard of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment MTF and IAW JC guidelines. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
- Complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.
- When assigned, will serve and participate in committees, functions and other meetings. Provide relevant and timely information and assists with decision-making and process improvement.
- Will report to the Director of Radiology.
- Also may serve as preceptor for CT Technologist preceptors programs.
- As required, participate in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.

- GE Revolution 64 Slice CT Scanner
- Siemens Force 128 Slice CT Scanner
- Philips IQON 256 Slice CT Scanner
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Have graduated from a radiography program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Education (JCERT).
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Current BLS
- Experience: Minimum of (3) three years’ experience.
- Board Certification: Possess a current post-primary certification as a CT Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Licensure/Registration: Valid unrestricted license in at least 1 state, territory or commonwealth of the US. Possess a current registration as a Radiologic Technologist or a Radiation Therapist by the American of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
